Hoya lacunosa ‘Silver Mint Coin’
This charming cultivar is a selection from Hoya lacunosa, a species native to Southeast Asia with a range from Thailand through Borneo, Java, Sumatra, and the Philippines. It is a climbing epiphyte or lithophyte that grows primarily in lowland and hill forests, often on trees along rivers.
Features small leaves that are almost round - like a coin - slightly wider and shorter than typical lacunosa. The leaves are almost solid silver, creating a consistent silvery speckled appearance. Small white flowers bloom readily and the scent is a very nice spicy floral, though blooms are quite small and last only a few days.
A stable grower that isn’t supposed to revert, and once established, grows quite fast.
Perfect for hanging baskets or trained to climb.
Especially susceptible to underwatering - never let the mix dry out completely or stems will rot when you water next.
Care Requirements:
Recreate a dense forest environment with very little, if any, direct sunlight—bright light can turn this plant quite ugly, so prioritize a consistent, bright shade.
Our Classic or Shaggy Aroid & Hoya Mix provides the ideal well-draining substrate.
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged—never allow to dry completely.
Thrives in temperatures between 60-85°F (15-27°C) with humidity levels around 40-60% or higher. They are quite sensitive to cold and really should be kept above 55F.
Perfect for beginners seeking an easy-care, fast-growing trailing Hoya with striking silver foliage.
