Hoya hanhiae 'Pink'

This recently discovered climbing species originates from central Vietnam, found in Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa provinces. It grows as an epiphytic creeping vine on large old trees in secondary tropical lowland swamp forest on sandy soil at elevation 33-164 feet above sea level, near sea shore. It gets it's name from the plant discoverer Mrs Nguyen Thuy Hanh in 2014.

The plant features thick, oval-shaped, glossy green leaves with visible veins. The Pink form produces beautiful pink star-shaped flowers that are very fragrant, with fragrance especially noticeable at night. These pretty little flowers scent their whole area of our greenhouse,Unfortunately, the blooms only last 3-4 days at most. Flowers open late afternoon and close in the morning the following day. Often blooms with multiple umbels at one time. Usually a relatively fast Hoya to get to bloom, even from a small plant.

This species likes to be extremely warm to do well, which makes sense coming from the lowlands.

Care Requirements: Needs lots of light year-round, but avoid direct sunlight, especially during the hottest part of the day, as they can burn leaves.

Our Classic or Shaggy Aroid & Hoya Mix provides the ideal well-draining substrate. Allow soil to dry slightly before watering.

Ideal temperature range is 65-85°F with around 50% or higher humidity.

This species does not tolerate temperatures below 50°F.
