Hoya 'Optimistic'

This fabulous hybrid is the result of crossing Hoya 'Ruthie' and Hoya ciliata. Part of the Eriostemma section, this cultivar inherits the vigorous nature of its parents. Originating from Southeast Asia, it carries the tropical adaptations typical of the region's epiphytic flora.

Features glossy, flat leaves with embedded veins and slightly revolute margins. The stems and leaves are pubescent, giving them a soft, velvety texture. The flowers measure approximately 1.8 inches in diameter with truly nice colors ranging from red to yellow with a yellow center, creating an eye-catching display. The remarkably scented blooms have a delicious hint of lemon. This is a fast-grower and abundant bloomer, with reports of flowering in less than 1 year after purchase of young plants. The vine can grow up to 9.8 feet, making it suitable for training to climb or trailing from hanging baskets.

Like its parents, it is a fast-growing plant that prefers the sun and a larger pot, with a substrate richer in nutrients, demanding more space and light than the average Hoyas.
