Rhipsalis teres f. heteroclada (Spaghetti Cactus)

This distinctive epiphytic jungle cactus is native to Southern and South Eastern Brazil.. It grows on branches and rocks in its natural environment, demonstrating adaptability as both an epiphyte and lithophyte. They have thin stems that produces a whorl of branches every few inches or so, forming a cascading mass of stems.

The plant starts out growing upright and later cascading down and branching. The stems are green, but tint purplish in strong light and are covered in tiny, fine hairs. Mature plants often bloom with small white flowers followed by translucent berries.

Easy to care for and pet-safe, making it perfect for hanging basket displays. Nice compact species that adapts to different growing conditions.

Care Requirements: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Water regularly but let the potting mix dry out just slightly between waterings. Ideal temperatures range from 60-85°F but they can tolerate nights down into the mid 40s if they have to and days into the 90's as long as they are kept watered and the humidity is high as well. Our Classic or Shaggy Aroid & Hoya Mixes provide the ideal well-draining, substrate for this epiphytic species. Keep reasonably moist throughout the year, a little less so in winter. They enjoy humidity and so benefit from spraying. Perfect for beginners seeking an easy-care trailing plant with unique character.
