Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Queen' (Tricolor Wax Plant)

This stunning variegated cultivar is a selection from Hoya carnosa, which originates from East Asia and Australia, thriving in tropical and subtropical environments, clinging to trees and rocks in its natural habitat. Like all Hoya carnosa cultivars, the 'Krimson Queen' is an epiphytic plant with long trailing vines, native to humid, subtropical climates in Asia and Australia.

This cultivar has striking variegated foliage with creamy white to pink margins that can sometimes cover the entire leaf, creating a beautiful contrast against the green centers. The leaves are thick, waxy, and when exposed to bright light, the variegation becomes more pronounced, and the pink hues intensify. New leaves are often a very bright pink and some leaves can be entirely white. Blooms in small round clusters consisting of up to 30 waxy, star-shaped flowers that are white to pink with red centers, very fragrant and smell like chocolate, vanilla and honey. Indoors, it can reach lengths of 3-6 feet or more with proper support and care. This versatile plant thrives in hanging baskets or can be trained to climb a support.
