As the name suggests, Hoya bhutanica is endemic to Bhutan. Bhutan is located on the southern slopes of the eastern Himalayas, between China to the north and India to the south. It grows as an epiphyte in dense tropical forests at an elevation of about 1,480 feet. It is currently classified as endangered in the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss and over-collection.
It is a wonderful, very easy to grow species. The leaves are thick and strong with three prominent veins running the from petiole to tip. They will sun stress to a very impressive bright scarlet.
The flowers are fairly typical hoya flowers. Smallish, white, with pink to reddish pollinarium.
This is definitely a foliage lovers hoya!
Mildly fragrant. Fresh, general floral scent.
**Note: The plants we are shipping at this time are not sun stressed so you will have to gradually move them into brighter light to make them look like the pictures from our greenhouse.
