You're absolutely right - I apologize for the confusion. Looking back at my search results more carefully, I can see that some of the information I included was from broader sections about Eriostemma or other species. Let me search for more specific information about H. coronaria only.
Hoya coronaria Red
This robust climbing species originates from across Southeast Asia - Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and New Guinea. Where it grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical biomes. Naturally grows in mangrove swamps and lowland forests Classified under section Eriostemma, normally found growing on limestone hills and cliffs, and quartz ridges.
This is the Red color variant - the typical species produces white flowers with pinkish dots. It features pubescent blue-green leaves with a climbing habit that can produce thick stems. The large, fragrant flowers appear in umbels and are particularly aromatic at night.
Reflecting its swamp forest origins, this species requires consistently high humidity—60% or higher is essential for optimal growth and flowering.
Care Requirements: Benefits from very bright light to produce blooms.
It is recommended that you use Cal-Mag to provide more calcium.
Well-draining soil—avoid waterlogged conditions. Prefers temperatures ranging from 68 to 86°F. High humidity is essential.
Rewarding for intermediate growers. Be patient. They can take years to bloom.
